First and foremost, all training sessions take place with me, Sandra! I’m a certified dog trainer and I work mostly work on a one to one basis, at the pace of my clients and their canine companions. This allows me to observe and modify my approach as training progresses and give my full attention to the dog I am focused on for that session, and all subsequent ones. In instances where I offer group sessions, these will mainly be to work on confidence and will generally be in a controlled environment with a maximum of two other dogs.
I prefer to offer this bespoke training environment as the individual success of a group class can depend on so many external factors – from the temperaments of the other dogs attending and the focus of all participants, to the pace at which the class runs and whether this environment suits your individual dog’s personality and temperament.
I work mainly within north west London and will come to visit you and your pup in your home environment. That way your dog can rest comfortably or retreat at any point and I can get a sense of their daily life and any environmental changes which may help set them up for further success. I train only one dog at a time. So, in the case of multi dog households, unless the other dogs being around are imperative to the sessions, I do ask that during sessions any other dogs are kept occupied or have a walk at the same. This is really important so that my full attention can be given.
Positive reinforcement, which essentially means rewarding the behaviour we wish to see repeated, is such a powerful and effective training approach. Not only is it consistent and achievable for owners but it is the most ethical way to train our dogs, scientifically proven to produce long-lasting desirable behaviours based on trust of a two-way partnership. At the start of all my training sessions, I ask owners to ensure they have the correct training equipment to hand, which I gladly run through if owners would like. In keeping with my research and beliefs as a dog trainer, I do not train using any aversive equipment or techniques. Please don’t let that put you off contacting me if you do use anything that could be considered ‘balanced’ or ‘aversive’ - there is never any judgement but my objective will be to support you and guide you towards training with positive reinforcement methods only.

“Positive training works, it’s fun, and it does not have the potential to cause stress and physical injury to our dogs through the application of force, pain and intimidation.”
